A Proposal To Dance

He lifted his drink, forgetting to take a sip as he sat and stared at her from across the room

She seldom wore her hair up, he observed.

It made her seem a bit more glamorous, a bit more intriguing

He watched her as she leaned in to Zander Smith from across the table

She was obviously comfortable in her conversation with him

His eyes then followed as she threw her head back with laughter

He wasnt sure he had ever seen her laugh out loud

Usually she looked broken hearted, in fear... always serious

Inconceivably she was known to be heartless and sterile and relentless

She was suppose to be molded to be that way

She was nothing of the sort

She was the Cassadine of heart, she cared too deeply... it was the source of most of her troubles

The woman who was not suppose to love at all, loved too much

Couples danced in front of him blocking his view of her

He could now only see in his view her thin, long tanned legs as they crossed the other so elegantly

It did not waiver his attention

He found himself still holding up his drink

He stood, pulling himself together, leaving the drink behind

He would be a gentleman

He hoped she would comply

"I would like to dance with you, may I?"

Before she could turn around Zander had stood up in protest

She held out her hand to Zander

"No... Ill dance"

Zander looked completely shocked

She was feeling courageous or maybe a bit stupid

Everyone was at least on their second glass of wine, she was no exception

He led her to the dance floor and placed his hand properly at her back

"Im surprised" He said cocky with a bit of truth

"Well I figured you wouldnt murder me right here in front of everyone...you dont do business that way"

"True, but Im quite aware of your distaste for me"

"I have a distaste for your brother" she quickly snapped back

"And I have a distaste for yours"

A smirk came across Alexis face before she looked away from him

He had always found her intriguing, but never a seductress

At that moment, she was a seductress

Was this the Natasha Cassadine he had heard so little about?

He lowered his hand to the small of her back and let his thumb make small soothing strokes

She turned back to face him a little closer than before

Any inch closer was more dangerous than the last

"You do not care that they are staring?"

She looked around at the eyes trying to nonchalantly watch them

"Its what happens when you are an outcaste" she said as if it no longer bothered her

She had said it as if she didnt care

She cared, he knew she did

But he also understood

He too would pretend it didnt bother him to be the outcaste

"I too was staring at you from across the room"

Alexis raised her brown giving her attention to him

"Maybe we shouldnt do this"

"Shouldnt do what? Dance?" he said leaning in to whisper into her ear

She stopped. They stood their motionless

"Im not playing this game with you. I cant play this game with you"

"Ms. Davis my intentions were never to play games"

She pulled away from him

"How about I go back to my table and you back to yours. Well forget I accepted your offer to dance"

"Ms. Davis"

"Alexis" she interrupted

She had never insisted that he call her by her first name before but he dared not to give her a satisfied grin

"If we cant dance, can we talk?"

"Thats what were doing now"

"No I mean privately"

"You forget my policy not to speak to you in places that arent surrounded by at least a hundred people for fear you may have a murder on your hands"

"Im not trying to kill you"

"Really? Never crossed your mind?"

He enjoyed her wit

"My brother was a hated man. And you had even more reason to hate him. He and I did not see eye to eye on a lot of things just as you and your brother do not..."

"So this makes us eye to eye or you a saint?"

"No... of course not. But it does make me not vengeful"

"So youre saying you dont want revenge on someone who killed your twin brother?"

"I would have done so to you already and without question if I was going to"

Alexis suddenly began to walk away from him and then turned when he did not follow

"We can speak out on the terrace"

He followed

He followed like a puppy

"Now what did you want to talk about?" she said sounding somewhat annoyed or was it playing hard to get

"How is your daughter?"

"Dont ask about my daughter" She snapped

Any one else would have been put off by her tone but he understood her caution, why she put up her guard.

Her daughter was off limits

It was the wrong "ice breaking" question

"Forgive me"

"Look Alcazar..."

"Lorenzo" he interrupted

She paused

"Lorenzo" she said now speaking in a more soft tone "You do understand the absurdities of me standing out here with you as if it were nothing to think twice about"

"If you are speaking of the bad blood that is suppose to be between us..."

"No I am speaking of the blood between us" she said without flinching

Lorenzo had met Natasha

"Then I will get to the point"

"Please do"

"I am wanting to call a truths" he said trying to nonchalantly touch the top of her hand resting on the railing

"Youre wanting to get me in bed" She said honestly

"That is one truth yes"

"Lust will let you forgive me for your brothers death ?"

"I will reiterate that my brother and I did not see eye to eye... and I have never sought revenge on you..."

"This is true"

"Then before we take this conversation any further lets go inside and continue our dance as I so hoped we would"

"Tonight you are only asking me to dance?"

"That is correct. And tomorrow I will ask you again"

Alexis was intrigued. She was also playing with fire. But what she had assumed about his lusting after her had come to fruition

She could say anything and he would wrap around her finger

"Ok, Ill dance"

Her words echoed from when she first agreed dance with him

But again he was surprised by her cooperation

"And tommorrow?"

Alexis gave him a sly grin

"Youll have to ask again tomorrow"
