Damn This Heart

HOME

If you were given another chance to be with love after you thought it was gone for good would you? And then what would you do when the sun came up?

Ned and Alexis sat across from one another at the bar of Port Charles Grill.

As they sat there it was a haunting reminder of how they had first met. Then, the broken and lonely, had now seem to come full circle as they sat there seemingly no better than they were that night.
The only exception now was that instead of two strangers meeting by chance these two strangers knew each other better than anyone.

They made small talk of each others lives and they tried to be civil and lighthearted and the conversation went smoothly until the honest question came out of Neds mouth.

So how are you, really?

And the truth spilled uncontrollably out of her mouth

They found themselves deep into a conversation of what should have been A conversation that would only remind them of the love they lost.

I wanted to get down on my knees and beg for your forgiveness a thousand times.

Alexis, half the fault was mine

I asked myself over and over why we fell apart, how we fell apart

But you never could find the right answer? He said understanding

No she said shaking her head

Me either he said trying to moisten his now dry lips

They left silence between them as she opened her mouth hesitantly and then closed it again, then opened it again

I cried, she said bluntly still not making eye contact with him

Me too he answered bluntly

Ned, I still cry, she said honestly

Me too he said honestly

They both paused for a moment and he watched her finger circle the rim of her glass around and around until he could almost feel her fingers on his skin making that circular motion

What did we do to love? she finally said looking at his eyes watching her

Made it a hell of a good thing to have

She let out a troubled laugh

Damn this heart she said now shaking her head in disbelief

Again another silence, then out of the blue he made a bold move and let his hand reach out for her other arm that was resting on the top of the bar.

He let his fingers graze her skin enough to send chills racing down her arms.

Ned she said almost hoping that wouldnt stop him

Come up stairs with me he said seriously without flinching

She playfully let her fingers circle his arm and it felt just as he imagined it would feel when she was circling the glass. She was buying time while her mind was dancing with the idea of his proposal.

And then she her fingers pulled away from his arm and she latched on to his hand giving it an assuring grip and his feet hit the ground pulling her in his direction

They had made it to the elevator making sure they hadnt been seen and they said nothing all the way up to Neds private suite.

They walked in the room as two consenting adults and they still had yet to say a word or take their eyes off of each other in fear of loosing concentration

She made the first move, pulling his shirt from his pants and he began to unbutton her shirt. She let her hands run down his familiar chest as he helped her remove his shirt

She tugged at the button of his pants as she could feel the affect she had on him. She undid his zipper and let his pants fall to the floor.

She pushed him back on the bed as she crawled on top of him and as he finished unbuttoning her shirt as she lingered over him. He pulled the shirt off of her shoulders and undid her bra letting her breast graze against his chest.

Her pants were shoved to the floor

My God, Ive forgotten. He whispered as he touched her soft fragrant body

Me too she said almost sounding shaken by his touch

His hands slipped to her hips and pulled the sides of her panties down her hips and past her thighs

Nedremind me, she said reaching to do the same to him

He turned her over on her back letting her sink into the softness of the sheets

I didnt forget how beautiful you are

Alexis spread her legs letting Ned place himself inside of her

Their bodies moved together as if they had not spend a moment a part. He knew where and when and how. He knew the sounds she made and which ones meant fast or slow or more.

Her hands running through his hair gave him chills as the tips of her fingers drizzled down his neck.

They kissed passionately. Wanting to fill the empty space between them, wanting to fill the alone they had created.
The sweet familiar tastes that only they could know came from the others lips as it fed the want and the suppressed passion

With every thrust, with every touch, with every breath they knew they were going against everyone and everything even their consciouses. But they couldnt get enough of each other. They could stop the passion that was boiling they couldnt control the familiar touch that made them go further and further.

She screamed, he mimicked her sound. He watched her body jolt as he came inside of her as they became one once again.

She watched as his chest would rise and fall with each breath he tried to control. And she let her fingers run a familiar course back and forth across his shoulders as she kissed them.

It had been hours since they had made the move to his suite at the Port Charles Hotel. They lay there in the moments when one should have respectfully gotten up and walked away but Ned held her and she held him. They never let one moment after making love be the moment where they should have regretted sex.

Instead they said nothing, Alexis even refused to allow Ned to see her face as she tried her best to not let tears fall to his skin.

The sun began to rise and small rays of light began to seep through the sheer curtains from across the room.

Neither of them slept, neither of them closed their eyes. Their eyes only stared, stared into the openness of a room that shielded them from reality. Reality where the reminder of the broken and lonely had come full circle, but a reminder the circle had been broken.

The sun Ned finally said breaking an hour of silence

Alexis turned her head away from the window now facing him

She took a moment as if she were to choose her words carefully as if they were to decided how to finish what had become fate

You were right... she said letting out a nervous breath

About?

How we made love a hell of a thing to have, she said trying to control the tears that had soaked her eyes

He paused devouring what she had just said and in that moment, the tears that had welled up in her eyes fell down her cheeks one after the other and he tried to let his fingers catch every one of them

You were right he said

About? she said following the conversation

He let out his own troubled laugh

Damn this heart he said as he shook his head in disbelief
