Alexis sat up on the side of the bed securing the light silk sheet around her. She shivered slightly as the air caught her shoulders as she watched him sleeping peacefully on the other side of the bed.

She turned her head, the view of the lights of Port Charles through the windows of his penthouse sparkled against the dark navy sky

She turned again to look at him

He asked her would she regret as he trailed kisses down her spine

That was hours ago

She couldnt refuse

She trusted him

She loved him

And she needed him at that moment as much as he needed her

She wasnt sure now if she did regret

He was her best friend and they had crossed the line

She was confused by Camerons intentions

She was trying to stay as far away as she could from Sonny

And Ned... everything she had tried to fix, she just seemed to make worse with him

She was alone... she was spending the next few months without her daughter. The one thing she could say was her true love, her purpose in life... she was taken away from her

Alexis wasnt eating, she wasnt sleeping...

Jax had begged her to come by, to leave her apartment, to get out, to at least have dinner with him. To let him take her mind off of being without Kristina for a moment or at least help her waste another day until she had her daughter again

Alexis decided she would take Jax up on his offer

They had drank a bottle of wine between them and had made their way back to Jaxs penthouse

He held her. Jax knew that she was grieving.

She was the picture perfect image of someone who could pretend to be fine even when completely broken hearted...

She needed him but he needed to hold her, to feel like he had a purpose, to feel at least she needed him, if no one else did

Alexis tried to slip quietly from the bed and made her way to the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror and then fumbled around the bathroom as if she were trying to figure out why she was in her own dream.

"Alexis"

She had said her own name out loud as if she were scolding herself

Alexis shivered realizing she was still naked after leaving the silk sheets behind

She peered again into the bedroom grabbing Jaxs dress shirt that had fallen carelessly at the edge of the chair

Before she could finnish buttoning his shirt to cover her she looked up to see his icy blue eyes watching her every move

Alexis smiled shyly and then backed herself into the chair. Sitting while trying to cover her bare skin

Jax sat up sensing the tension

"Alexis"

She broke her stare and focused her eyes on anything but him

Jax held out his hand

"Alexis come here..."

He couldnt have been more charming, more sincere, more understanding

He grinned at her to relieve the awkwardness

She smiled back letting out a nervous laugh

"Alexis its ok"

She walked toward Jax taking his open hand

Jax pulled her into his arms

"Jax this is a little... weird.... I, we were caught up in the moment and I didnt think, we didnt think about after, about how it would be... right now..."

"Its ok, were ok"

"We crossed a line..."

"Sometimes you need to cross a line"

"You dont regret at all what we did?"

Jax looked into her dark eyes, and began to memorize the freckles that had appeared on her face as if they only appeared in the night

His finger pressed against her lips the trailed down her neck to the first button, buttoned of his shirt

"It looks good on you..." he said ignoring her question

She grinned again shyly

He unbuttoned the shirt with his two fingers and he watched as she got slightly more nervous

"But... if I remember correctly you looked better without the shirt..."

"Jax!"

The unmistakable smile that covered her face made him let out a slight laugh

Jax released the next button

"Jax, weve already gone to far, if we do this, if we do this again, well be in too deep" She said grabbing his hand in hers

"Alexis I want you, I need you..."

"Thats why we shouldnt, were too vulnerable right now"

"Alexis, Alexis Ive wanted you so many times before..."

"Jax"

"There are only things you can do. And when all else failed when everyone else failed you were always there for me..."

"And you have always been there for me..."

"Alexis..."

"Jax!"

"Alexis, doesnt it make sense?"

"What? That you and I end up in bed together?"

"No, that I would fall in love with you in a way that I dont normally do with a woman..."

"You mean Im not just some arm ornament?" She said as a matter of fact but still not being able to withhold a grin

"Alexis you said it yourself weve already gone to far..."

"Jax that doesnt mean we should have sex...again..."

"Alexis I want to make love to you. I want to make you feel the way you want to feel..."

"Youre my best friend and you have been for a long time. Im afraid we can never be the same. Never have our friendship the way it..."

Jax suddenly stopped her with a kiss

Stunned for a moment Alexis uncontrollably began to kiss him back before Jax himself broke the kiss

"See no use arguing" Jax said grinning

"Oh God..."

Jax began to kiss Alexis again, this time pulling his shirt from around her shoulders

"Jax please dont let this end our friendship... I cant lose you too ..."

"Alexis you cant lose me... and we both need to feel for a change. I know how hard it is to make everything so distant, so cold. Let me make you feel..."

Alexis looked at Jax as he waited for her response

She began to kiss him slowly giving away her answer

"But Jax..." Alexis said holding her lips to the lobe of his ear "Be right here in the morning..."

Jax turned to look into Alexis eyes making sure she understood

"Ill be here. Ill always be right where you need me..."
