Chapter 10
"Just take her please!"
She was pleading with him as uncontrollable tears fell from her eyes
"Natasha you cant do this. Not to Isabella, not to yourself!
His thought he could feel his own heart breaking in to a million pieces. He couldnt imagine what her own heart felt like at that moment
She was giving her daughter away
She was pushing the love of her life away
"Please Connor. You promised me you would take her away , you would protect her!"
How could she be that strong? How could she be so willing to give up her own flesh and blood just to protect her
"I will! I will! But I will protect you too. We can disappear... I promise we can..."
He was an 18 year old boy trying to do anything he thought was right... anything for the woman he loved and their newborn baby girl
"Shell find us. As soon as she finds out about Isabella, Helena will want to kill her... please just take her and leave me"
"Its not that easy for me to just leave you here. You just gave birth to our daughter"
Natasha was smart, almost too smart for her own good. She knew the ways of the Cassadines. Her own survival was still in question. Isabellas was not in question
"Ill be fine. We agreed to this! Ill call when I get back to school"
"Youre in pain"
She only looked up at Connor placing a silence between them to end a conversation that would evolve into nothing
"I love you" She finally said letting the words whisper between her lips
He squeezed the palm of her hand into his "I love you too... always" and then, as she had begged him, he let her go carrying Isabella in his arms...

Alexis woke up the next morning holding Kate in her arms
Alexis had never held her baby girl in her arms like this until now
Her baby girl, that was now a woman
A woman that had grown up to be beautiful and intelligent and perfect in her mothers eyes
It had only been a few days of having Kate with her, but now Alexis couldnt imagine life without her. She couldnt let her go again, not for the second time. She couldnt let Connor just come and take her away...
And Kates determination to get to her mother and her sister had to mean something. It couldnt have been done in vain . It had to mean that Alexis was destined for a second chance with her daughter. A chance to finally fill in the piece of her heart that was missing
Alexis played gently with the ends of Kates long hair. She would hold her as long as he could this morning...
Today Connor would be arriving in Port Charles. He would be there by the afternoon
Alexis could feel the lump in her throat from the thought of Connors protest of Kate being in Port Charles. He had every right. She was his daughter. The daughter he had raised. The daughter that he had kept a promise to keep safe and away from the Cassadines...
Kate wiggled in her mothers arms before stretching her arms out as she began to open her dark eyes.
She looked up at Alexis
"Why didnt you wake me?" she said still in a sleepy voice
"You were sleeping so peacefully. I didnt want to wake you"
"I think I probably would have rather slept through today anyway" Kate said realizing what today was
"Well work everything out, ok"
"You dont sound so sure"
"Well Im not. But you are an adult. You can choose now to do what ever you want"
"Yes but hes still my father"
Alexis wrapped her arms tighter around Kate not for reassurance but rather as if she were trying to lock her there in her arms for keeps

"Mr. Ward would you like your bags to be delivered to the hotel? Or would you like them with you?"
"The hotel please" was all he said
"Very well. A car will be waiting for you to take you to your destination when you are ready"
He only nodded
He stepped off of his jet looking refreshed with no sign of his long plane ride across the ocean
He made his way to the car waiting for him as promised. The door was held open for him and he slid inside
"Where to sir?"

After their morning, both Kate and Alexis seem to becoming more and more of an emotional basket case.
Kate decided to take Kristina to the park and Alexis did what she knew best to do when she was about to fall apart, work.
Alexis sat in her office shuffling back and forth the papers she had spread all over her desk. Her mind wandered as she thought about where Connor was at that moment
Had he made it to Port Charles? Would he call and say he had changed his mind?
And besides worrying about him demanding that their daughter leave Port Charles, Kate was right... Alexis did love Connor once... once she believed him to be love of her life. And after one failed relationship to another she was starting to believe that the only person that was just 'easy' to love, was him.
A knock on Alexis' door startled her and broke her train of thought
She could feel her heart race at just the thought of seeing him standing there
"Alexis, sorry to interupt but I need to get your signature on these" Gia said holding papers out in front of her
Alexis took a small breath in and then out
"Oh, oh yes of course" Alexis said as she took them from her
"You seem a bit distracted today... is there anything I can help you do"
Alexis pulled off her glasses and ran her fingers through her hair, giving in
"I'm very distracted actually. I'll sign these for you and then I'm leaving to tend to some things... is there anything else I need to take care of before I go"
"I will take care of everything else, you go take care of what you need to..."
"Thank you" Alexis said looking appreciative At Gia for being so understanding
Alexis finished her work and packed her things
She had decided to walk to get some fresh air, hoping it would allow her to clear her head and pull herself together
Alexis stood on the corner waiting for the light to turn for her to walk across. She shuffled her bag on her arm to look at her watch
"I never imagined you would be this beautiful"
Alexis stopped dead in her tracks at the voice she would never forget
She turned around slowly, her heart beating a thousand miles a minute
She suddenly felt the cold of the autumn air
"Connor" she said softly almost not able to let words come out of her mouth
He smiled shyly at her, but she still looked very serious
"Im sorry that wasnt the proper hello" he said now serious himself
Alexis stood there taking in his handsome face
His own set of dark eyes, his subtle features
She waited, she wanted to see what he would do next, what he had prepared
"This seems quite awkward"
The sound of his voice, his charming English accent
He was nervous... if not more than she was
She suddenly took a step forward
He wasnt a stranger
She hugged him
His arms wrapped around her in a welcome embrace as she sunk into him
She didnt forget the way it felt for his arms to be wrapped around her, it had just been a long time
"Its been a long time" She said finally "I didnt expect to see you again on the street"
"I went to your office. I guess it was your assistant, she said I just missed you"
Alexis shook her head not sure where she should take the conversation
"Shouldnt you be looking for Kate, not me?"
"I see youve caught on to the name change?" He said sounding almost amused
"Lets just say I understand her reasons"
"I wanted to see you first" Connor said finally answering the question
"Why?"
"We need to talk about Kate. I think theres probably some missing parts to a story she hasnt told you about"
Alexis looked intrigued "Yes we do"
"Is there any where we can go?"
Alexis studied Connor for a second
"Yes"
Connor reached out his arms
And Alexis looked at him puzzled
"All of your things... I would like to help you carry them"
Alexis realized all the things she had piled in her arms
"Oh uh..."
Connor took what was in her arms
"So where do we begin?"
