“Two Lifetimes”
This Lifetime
She was smart and adapted
quickly. She was at times quiet but very much known for her feistiness and ability to get what she wanted or to get where
she wanted
She was passionate
Relentless
Strong
And to a fault when she
loved, she loved so much it was clear it would always be to her detriment
In the summer her hair
would turn lighter from the sun, but her skin stayed tan all year round
Any teenage girl, any
women for that matter would envy her skin, envy her face. She was beautiful, hauntingly beautiful. One glance and you would
become entranced by her beauty and by the mystique that surrounded her dark eyes and tanned skin…
She was the perfect mix
of her mother and a stranger
It was obvious she didn’t
belong to the blue eyed, blonde haired Aussie that she referred to as her father
“Davis!”
Her name, her first name
had been tucked away neatly just as the secret of her real identity
“Dad!”
His feet shuffled across
the deck of the boat towards her as she ran quickly to him
He wrapped his arms around
her tightly lifting her feet off the ground “I’ve missed you so much sweetheart!”
She was the perfect fit
in his arms
“I’ve missed
you too!” She said grinning wildly
“You must have
a new painting!” he said inspecting the sight of her
Davis looked down to her hands and arms splattered with blues and reds and yellows
“My painting, come
see!”
Davis grabbed Jax by the hand pulling him along to the easel set up on deck
Jax’s eyes
shined proudly at the exceptional painting of the buildings surrounding the water of La
Palma, Spain
“It’s beautiful,
absolutely beautiful” As were all her paintings she had painted to document her travels
Davis looked at him now biting her lip as if she was still unsure of her satisfaction with
her own creation
Jax only looked at her
and grinned giving her a tug at the shoulders
He loved that look on
her face, it was the look her mother had when she was uncertain of her own brilliance
“Well hello stranger”
Jax turned quickly to
the familiar voice he was starving to hear
Dimples were pressed
firmly in to each of her cheeks
His arms opened quickly
for her
“Hello wife!”
“Hello husband!”
He leaned in giving her
a lingering kiss on the lips, having to remind himself their daughter was standing nearby
She, herself was a sight.
She was tan and rested. This life, a life that was now hers and had been for over a decade suited her well
She barely resembled
the old Alexis Davis. The Alexis that had to leave a lifetime worth of pain behind her, the Alexis that left everything for
the sole purpose of protecting her daughter…
The Last Lifetime
Before it was too late,
before too many questions were asked…
She stood in the living
room of her apartment with Kristina on her hip terrified of the world around her. Her only saving grace at that moment was
the man that stood before her. Her best friend who had figured out her secret, a best friend that loved her and her daughter
so much that he offered to literally give his life away for them, give his life away to keep her secret.
He had reached out his arms and held them both and promised to take them away from every secret and every
lie and promised to give them everything they ever needed and wanted. He promised them love and safety and for once in Alexis’
life the chance to breathe
She desperately needed
a chance to breathe
A moment later she packed
everything she and Jax could carry and disappeared
Somehow they made it
seem natural
Alexis Davis attorney
extraordinaire ‘went on vacation’ with her daughter and never went back. Sending word that she loved the beach
life
She wasn’t on the
beach she was in Alaska with Lady Jane waiting for Jax
He slowly disappeared
from Port Charles making one business trip longer than the next
He kept his promise
They disappeared
One year later
She changed her last
name
She didn’t plan
to
She didn’t plan
on falling in love with Jax. She loved him, he was her best friend. But she never planned to fall in love with him
She wanted what was best
for her daughter, Jax was best. Alexis in time wanted Kristina to be a Jacks. She knew first hand what it was like to be in
that family, to feel loved and wanted. It was the most Alexis had ever felt loved. She
couldn’t imagine marrying Jax again though, going through with another “fake” marriage
But she fell in love
She stood on snow covered
ground in Switzerland almost one year
from the date they left Port Charles and she kissed him
Not a typical Jax and
Alexis kiss but an ‘I realized I’m in love with you’ kiss
She married him
for the second time in Paris and honeymooned in Rome
Married life changed
them both
She learned to take refuge
in Jasper Jacks. She learned to not only trust him completely with her own life but with her daughter’s. She had never
trusted anyone with her daughter’s…
And he usually trusting
and whimsical instead became cautious of who he associated with and at least for a while every corner they turned
They would began a new
lifetime but not forgetting the last
This Lifetime
Her new life
On paper she was “in
house” council for all the Jacks’ endeavors. She had made quite a
name for herself in the business world for being the legal eagle to be reckoned with when it came to the Jacks family dealings
though the days of suits and sensible pumps where behind her
She instead read contracts
in the sun and on airplanes to pass the time
And strangely it was
all easy. Having love that she never dreamed of having; a husband, her daughter… and no one questioned, no one interrupted
++++++++++++
“How did everything
go?”
“Excellent. I brought
back a stack of paper work for you!”
“Can’t wait”
Alexis said rolling her eyes
Davis now stood eye to eye with her mother as she stood in between her parents
“Have you two been
on the water all day?” Jax asked eyeing both sets of pink cheeks from the result of the Spanish sun
“Just the afternoon”
“And I’m
starving!” Davis chimed in
“How about we go
for dinner” Jax suggested
“You’re not
too tired from your trip?” Alexis asked her arms unable to let Jax go
“Just dinner and
then just go back and relax?” He revised

Living a life as a Jacks
was always an adventure or at least always on the go. Jax knew in a lot of ways being “on the go” made Alexis
more at ease. It wasn’t unlike them at all to go to sleep in one country and wake up in another. And it was all Davis knew. England,
France, Italy, Australia the list went on and on. There didn’t
seem to be a sight the 15 year old hadn’t seen or at least to her recollection… except for two countries, her
mother’s birthplace and her own.
“So where will
you have to go to finish the deal?” Alexis asked diving into what she swore was her last bite of desert
“New York City” Jax responded waiting for Alexis’ reaction
New
York or the United States
was not even a question if Alexis and Davis would come along. It was still a place that was literally too close to home. When
Jax would go to the states, they would coincidentally go shopping in Paris or Milan
or go to London where they officially called home
And Davis knew there was a reason for it. She wasn’t sure why but she just assumed it was
because her mother didn’t want to travel there. It was innocent as that, Davis
never dug too deep to question it. She never felt the need to, her mother and father always seemed completely honest with
her
She knew she was born
in the States and that her real father lived there. She also knew her mother wanted nothing to do with him. She had made it
clear, said it was a one night stand and that Davis should
thank God everyday for Jax. And Davis did
But today she questioned
it
“I think we’ll
just go back to London” Alexis chimed in
“Why can’t
we go to New York? We never go?”
“We can’t.”
Alexis answer quickly
“Why not?”
“Because I need
to take care of business in London” Alexis said looking
at Jax
“Can I go with
dad?”
“I’ll be
working. You’ll be bored” Jax said offering to help with the situation “Besides don’t you want to
see your friends?”
“Yes, I guess so”
Davis said disappointed
Jax could see how uneasy
the conversation was making Alexis
“How about we discuss
the trip later? We’re all tired and I for one just want to think about being with the two of you for one more night
in La Palma before our flight home tomorrow. Ok?”
“Ok” Davis said satisfied with his compromise knowing any further discussion
about going to the states with her mother at that moment was a waste of breath
++++++++++++++++
“Asleep?”
Alexis asked sitting on the side of the bed half undressed
“Sound asleep”
Jax said making his way to her
“She’s not
happy with me”
“She’s fine”
“Did she say anything
else to you?”
“No and she’s
probably already forgotten about New York”
“She’ll want
to discuss it later” Alexis said knowing her daughter
“You’re probably
more worried about it than she is. When she gets back to London
and sees her friends she’ll forget all about it”
Jax helped her pull the
last bit of clothing from her body
“Am I being insane?”
Alexis was still preoccupied
“No, cautious”
“He won’t
know she’s there much less that he’s even looking for her. I should be so paranoid ”
“Honey if you don’t
feel comfortable with taking her back to the states then it’s not even a discussion” he said trying to undress
himself
“I just don’t
want her to hate me one day for all of this”
Jax guiding her to lie
down
“She won’t,
she won’t”
Jax got in bed and pushed
her hair aside from her neck and began to kiss her
“Jax”
“Yeah”
Jax stopped long enough
to listen
She grinned
“I missed you”
He grinned
“Obviously not
as much as I missed you” he said as he began to kiss her again
She was easily consumed
by him
