Dr. Jacobs was still grinning. He had come to know a little bit about Alexis while she was in the hospital and he knew that though this baby was a shock to her she was very strong and she would be ok.

Alexis sat in the room alone. Staring at the picture of an ocean scene with two seashells, larger than life painted on the sand. Her stare deepened until her eyes had to blink. At that point she felt like it could have been the most alone she had ever been. She kept running the same dialog through her head. This is insane, Im not pregnant. Did he just say the word baby? Oh God!

Dr. Meadows walked in calling Alexis name.

Alexis knew how far along she was.

Alexis did as she was told though she wanted to run screaming from the hospital. Alexis was silent as Dr. Meadows talked her through the ultrasound. There it was this tiny little thing on the screen. Alexis studied it as if she would have to plead a case for it literally.
Alexis sat up and Dr. Meadows handed her the picture. The doctor placed her hands on each side of Alexis shoulders.

She looked her in the eyes as if she was suddenly her mother reassuring her child.

God gives us nothing we can not handle

Alexis closed her eyes and swallowed hard.

Are you ok?

Im fine was all Alexis said.

She got her things and put the picture in her bag and walked out the door suddenly a completely different woman.

Alexis went back to her penthouse again trying to dodge Johnny in the hallway though he could see she was visibly upset.

Alexis crawled in bed and buried her face into her pillow. She didnt mean to cry the way she did but she at that point didnt know what else to do.

The next morning, Johnny went into Sonnys penthouse. Sonny was on the phone when he realized Johnny was standing there. Sonny ended his phone conversation trying to read Johnnys troubled look.

She was crying yesterday and I havent seen or heard her since

The words she and her were like calling her name, it was now implied.

Sonny let a deep stare set in as he ran his hands over his mouth, trying to separate right from wrong in his impulse to run to her.

He walked passed Johnny and knocked on Alexis door. With no answer he walked in.

Sonny cautiously walked up Alexis steps waiting for her to reply

He stood in the doorway of her room to see her buried in the covers still in her clothes obviously from the day before.

Sonny please go away he could tell that she had been awake and that she was upset.

This is not about you she shot back at him without any feeling in her voice.

Sonny was silenced but he couldnt help himself he would do anything to make things better for her.

Alexis sat up realizing he wasnt going to go away. She turned around to let her sad red eyes stare back at him.

Sonny stood there in shock. My God what was going through her head, he knew she wasnt ok.

Sonny came closer to her and he could see her move away from under the covers.

She was already walking out of the kitchen. It was her way of getting out of getting back into the baby conversation.

Sonny looked at her trying to keep his feelings for her aside and tried to be the friend she needed.

Sonny closed the door behind him as Alexis was still stunned by what Sonny had just said to her.

Johnny find out where Ned Ashton is this morning

A few minutes later Johnny came in Hes still at the gatehouse sir

Ned came down stairs ready for battle. Thinking he knew what his argument was.

Sonny had fallen in love with Alexis and maybe this deep attraction was beyond lust but Ned had won his battle. She was having his baby and Sonny refused to be responsible for a child not having a father or the chance for the babys parents to be together especially when he knew they loved each other.

Ned suddenly was puzzled by why Sonny did come over there. Why did he care if he and Alexis made up. If anything he wanted the opposite.

Kristina ran up the steps just in time to hear her though the bathroom walls.

Alexis just stared at herself in the mirror. A tear fell down her face as Kristinas voice startled her.
