"Questions vs. The Usual Suspects"

He threw the bag of food clearly labeled McDonalds in front of her

“Eat!” He instructed

Davis didn’t make a move for the food, she didn’t make a move at all

“You barely touched your breakfast and you’re not getting anything else… eat”

His annoyance with her unwillingness to cooperate was apparent

And she knew exactly what affect she was having on him

It was her plan

The man pulled the food from the bag and laid it out in front of her

“You like a burger and fries? All kids like burger and fries…”

Davis’ eyes shot to his and then back in to thin air

“You don’t speak?”

Davis looked up  again at the man now pacing in front of her

“I know you got a set of lungs. You were killin’ my ears with all that screamin’ you were doin’… I told you it wouldn’t do you any good”

Davis turned her head from him. The man’s obvious boredom was causing him to speak incessantly

“You’re name is Davis right?”

He knew her name

She knew he knew her name

“Look Davis…”

“Who are you?” She interrupted

Davis hadn’t said one word in three days

The sound of her voice startled him

“You don’t need to know ok”

“Not even your name?”

“No”

“Are you ever going to let me go?” Her voice was calm, she was calm

Her ability to stay calm obviously learned from Jax

“It’s not left up to me”

“Who is it left up to? Who are you working for?”

Again she never raised her voice just questioned

“You don’t need to know”

“Then will you tell me where are we? The United States?”

“You’re asking too many questions”

“You’re American” She said making an obvious conclusion “What’s today Wednesday? Saturday? How long have I been here?”

“Just don’t ask questions ok”

Davis looked at him, her dark eyes seemingly sweet and fragile were now looking in to him so harshly he could almost literally feel them piercing his flesh

She was fearless or at least she seemed to be

Her silent treatment broken but her questions were planned and relentless

She was a Cassadine, a Corinthos, a Jacks… with every part of her that said be afraid another said survive

She continued questioning

“What’s in this for you? Money… if you want money my father will give you what you want” Davis studied him once again “But you knew that didn’t you?”

“Shut up kid!” He said angrily

“You want me to talk so I am. Now you want me to be quiet?”

“I told you don’t ask questions!”

“What if I don’t stop asking questions?”

The man stopped his pacing in front of Davis and leaned in so close it made Davis clench her jaw and squeeze her eyes shut

“If you don’t stop asking questions little girl I’ll kill you”

Davis felt him quickly move away

“You won’t” Davis boldly teased as if she had practiced in her head what to say and prepared not to flinch “You won’t kill me unless you’re instructed to”

“I’ll kill you right now”

The man pulled a gun from his coat pocket and aimed it directly at Davis

“I said don’t ask another question”

++++++++++++++

“It’s just as quiet here” Alexis said looking out over the city of Port Charles. “I mean even without the noisy streets of London the quiet is the same. I hate silence…”

Alexis turned to look at Jax studying the report intently that Robbie had dropped off for them to read

She was talking to herself

Alexis sat down in the chair across from Jax

“What time are we supposed to meet with Mac?”

Small talk

“3:30”

“Everyone knows she’s missing now, her picture is even in the paper here” Alexis said eyeing her daughter’s face in black and white on the coffee table

Jax took his eyes from the pages of the report

“Robbie said the more people who know the better. They know to look for her”

“If Sonny didn’t take her… You think he’ll take one look at her and know?”

“I’m not sure if he will. I do think if he had nothing to do with this it will at least peak his interest because he knows she’s your daughter. He cared that much about you”

Alexis didn’t correct Jax. She believed Sonny did at least one time care that much about her. And he wouldn’t wish her daughter any harm

Alexis sat in silence and Jax continued reading

She then stood abruptly from her chair

“Alexis?”

She picked up her coat

“If I’m not back before you leave for the police station I’ll meet you there”

“Wait where are you going? Please don’t do anything… or at least don’t go alone” Jax said confused “Alexis wait!”

“I’ll be fine I’ll meet you at the police station ok”

Alexis leaned in giving Jax a hurried kiss on the lips

Before he could protest again she was in the hallway headed for the elevator

He couldn’t stop whatever had  just occupied her mind

+++++++++++++++

His drink almost went all over him

He found it difficult to swallow at the sight of her

“Well, well Natasha. I hate that we have to see each other again under such horrible circumstances” he said solemnly as he took in her appearance

“Luke”

“I would say you look good and I’m sure you do under all the hell that’s written all over your face”

She said nothing

“Wanna sit?”

Alexis took a deep breath in and then out

She sat

“I read they found her necklace here in Port Chuck” Luke said quick to the point

He knew why Alexis was there

“Anything else?”

“No” Alexis answered her voice weak

“What happened? I mean really happened?”

“Pretty straight forward. I dropped her off at a friend’s house. Her friend’s mother was supposed to bring her home that evening. There was an accident, Davis’ friend and her mother were knocked unconscious and Davis was gone…”

“Nothing suspicious the days before?”

“Honest to God Jax and I have thought through every possible thing that could have been out of the ordinary”

“And nothing?”

“Nothing”

“Actually we had been in Spain and had only been back in London a few days”

“And your itinerary was known?”

“As far as I know just the usual people that would need to know where we were going like pilots, our house keeper…”

“Any suspicions there?”

“None. Everyone around us has been with us for years and they all love Davis and are very protective of her.  And if anyone was suspicious I feel like we would have caught on to them by now. Paranoid by nature you know”

“Ah yes paranoia is what we got in common…so who do you think has her?”

Luke watched Alexis begin to fidget nervously

“Natasha?”

Luke hooked his eyes to hers not letting her pull away

“You got details you ain’t sharing? Skeletons in the ol’ closet?”

Luke again studied how uneasy she became as the seconds past

“You came to me for a reason…who’s got her Natasha?”

Alexis stood up to now eye level with Luke as he sat at the edge of his desk

“Maybe Sonny”

“Sonny? What would he want with your bambino?”

Alexis looked at Luke dead in the eyes

“Ah he’s the kid’s daddy huh”

Alexis didn’t flinch

“Secret well kept Natasha. You did love and hate him very quickly… it adds up”

“Luke”

“So you think Sonny boy figured it out and he’s got her”

“Maybe”

“So we’ll start there” Luke said without hesitation “Anybody else?”

“Isn’t there always someone else?”

“I haven’t seen her around here in a while…figured it was because you and Nicolas decided to split out of town. Guess it was more fun to torment family rather than just your everyday average folks”

“It would be just like her to carry out revenge on me just when you think she hasn’t got it left in her”

“I’ll find out where she is”

“Thank you”

“Corinthos and Helena huh? You sure can pick em’”

“Well we already knew this didn’t we?”

Luke shook his head

“That’s why I always had a warm spot for you…not much for following danger but you and trouble are two peas in a pod”

Alexis rolled her eyes at him

“Hey Jax know where you are?”

“No and I’m suppose to be meeting him at the police station in a few minutes”

“He ain’t gonna like you associating with me especially because you’re checking in on the evil granny”

“Let me worry about Jax. He’s taking care of everything, he is doing everything he knows to do… so I’m left worrying and crying like a helpless…”

“And Natasha doesn’t just sit and wait she’s smarter than that” Luke announced

“I know she’s alive. I can feel that she’s alive and I know she can get through this. She’s smart and intuitive and insanely fearless at times… Luke she’s my life… I can’t live without her…”

“I know, I know and we’ll find her. Whoever’s got her…we’ll find her”

“Thank you”

“You’ll owe me a big smooch on the lips and a stiff drink when she’s back”

“Deal”

Luke helped Alexis pull her coat back over her shoulders and she headed for the door

“Natasha”

“Yeah”

“We’ll get your kid back ok” he said sympathetically

Tears quickly welled up in her eyes

She couldn’t say ok

She only shook her head and closed the door behind her before the tears fell down her face
