“Silence There, Silence
Here”
The sounds of the ocean blared
through the open doors of his penthouse suite atop his hotel and casino in Puerto Rico
The only sounds were the
ocean and the clank the coffee cup made as he rested it on the table beside him
The Port Charles newspaper
brought to him every morning with breakfast
Sonny sat glaring at the
picture of the dark eyed girl that seemed to stare back at him
“Missing, Davis Jacks”
Missing
Davis
Jacks
Each word he read, he repeated
She was missing
Davis… her name changed
Jacks… his last name
Every word sank into the
pit of his stomach
“Alexis”
Her name slipped quietly
from his mouth
Thoughts of her sadness,
her rage, her life at that moment presumably in shambles… she was missing her daughter
Her daughter…
Her… daughter…
He again concentrated on
Davis’ picture
Obviously the most recent
picture Alexis had of her. She was beautiful and even in black and white her skin, her hair, her eyes, were radiant
A knock at the door
His concentration lost
“Yeah”
“Sir…”
A man in a dark grey suit appeared from behind the door “The information
you requested, Mr. and Mrs. Jacks arrived in Port Charles a few days ago they’re staying in Penthouse 2 at the Port Charles Hotel”
“Anything about the
girl?”
“No sir, no updates
since her necklace was found at General Hospital”
“Get Bobby in here”
“Yes sir”
And the man disappeared
Sonny made his way to the
balcony and took note of the tide receding and then his thoughts slipped back to her
Alexis
Her daughter was her life,
he knew that
Living without her must have
been hell
He knew what hell was like
He had lost his daughter
with Sam after she was born prematurely
He had lost his son when
he found out Morgan wasn’t his
And Michael was grown now
and he didn’t see him much since he had divorced Carly for good and was spending most of his time in Puerto
Rico
He knew what hell was like
He knew what living without
his child was like…
Another knock
“Sir”
Another Sir, another dark
suit
“Bobby”
Sonny motioned for him to sit. He did
“You
needed me Sir?”
“Kristina…”
Sonny stopped to correct himself “Davis… Jacks” Sonny handed the newspaper to Bobby to study
“Kidnapped
in London?”
“Yeah”
“And
she’s the daughter of Alexis Davis and Jasper Jacks?”
“She’s
the daughter of Alexis Davis” Sonny said making his statement clear
Bobby
nodded
Bobby
knew only a little about Alexis. She and Sonny were deep in to the past when he became an associate of Sonny’s. He knew her name and what he did about her, only because her name came up after a
business deal was announced in every business section of what seemed like every paper in the world. Jasper Jacks and the Jacks family including his savvy lawyer and wife Alexis Davis Jacks…
“Find
her”
“The
kid?”
“Yeah,
I want her found no matter what you have to do, no matter what the cost… find her!”
Bobby
stood up
The
impossibilities of the task at hand weren’t in question. He was to find her
“I
will Sir”
Quickly,
again he was left alone
He reached
into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone placing it to his ear
“I
want the plane ready for Port Charles in an hour”
He waited
for the compliant answer and slammed the phone shut and back in to his pocket
He knew what hell was like
He knew what living without
a child was like…

Sympathetic
faces made quick glances at both Jax and Alexis at the PCPD
The
dashingly handsome, blue eyed, playboy and the brilliant, savvy attorney resembled nothing of the sorts
They
sat tired and worn
They
sat with their fingers intertwined, their pulses beating in sync
But
no words were spoken
After
days and nights of relentless ache there were no words… no words of comfort
The
morning had faded quickly as they sat impatiently waiting…
A man
had been identified
A man
acting mysteriously
His
actions out of the ordinary
Commissioner
Scorpio wanted both Alexis and Jax to see if they recognized sketches of him
But
until then they waited
They
waited in two metal folding chairs… in silence
“Jax…
Alexis” They stood up immediately at the sound of Mac calling their names from the doorway of his office “I apologize
for making you wait…”
They
both nodded to him as he showed them into his office
It was
obvious at that moment everyone in the PCPD had their eyes on them, curious if anything would bring back ‘that girl’
“We
have three different sketches of him, by three different people. We’re sure this is the same man just by identifying
marks, his gestures etc. … His ID matches the description of the man at the General
Hospital emergency room the night Davis’
necklace was found. Witnesses described him as seemingly very paranoid and said that he made suspicious purchases…”
“Purchases?”
Jax repeated questioning Mac’s choice of words
Mac
sat down at the table across from them
“Jax
the people who described the man were all people who saw him purchasing things in sequence that you wouldn’t necessarily
purchase because they were items you were just out of…”
“Like?”
Alexis said speaking up
“Alexis
you might rather not…”
Alexis
let go of Jax’s hand and leaned up from her chair “Like what Mac?”
Mac
took in a deep breath
“Trash
bags, duck tape, rope, clothes that obviously weren’t for him…”
“Those
things could all just be a weird coincidence. I mean a lot of people buy trash bags…”
“Art
sets” Mac finished
Alexis
immediately stopped breathing
Jax
eyes clenched shut
“Yes
a lot of people do buy those things but he bought them at one time and then went down the street to the art store and specifically
asked for canvas, brushes and paints. Until that day the man had never been in there… yes it is a coincidence but…”
“Oh
my God he has her!” Alexis exclaimed
Jax
at that moment couldn’t comfort her. He himself was easily convinced this had to be who had Davis
“I
need you both to study the pictures, tell me if you recognize him or anything about him”
Mac
turned the pictures closer to them
“Why
does it even matter? Why are we here wasting time? If the guy does or doesn’t have Davis
shouldn’t you check him out on suspicion?” Jax asked perturbed
“We
haven’t been able to find him. We had a call in to the station that someone thinks they saw him at a fast food restaurant
a few days ago… no one has reported seeing him since”
Alexis
studied the picture
No one,
he was no one
Just
a face sketched onto paper
“I
don’t know who he is” she said as she slid the picture in front of Jax
Jax
shook his head not recognizing him either
“Are
you sure?”
She
asked before Mac could
Jax
looked at her “I’m sure, I’m so sorry honey” he said squeezing her hand tight
A knock
on the door
“Yes?”
Mac said looking to the officer
“Commissioner
I’m sorry to interrupt but we have a situation we need you to…”
Mac
looked at both Jax and Alexis for assurance he could leave them there
“I’ll
be back in a moment” he assured
The
sound of the door clicking shut echoed throughout the room
Silence
again
Jax
stood and made a b-line to the window
More
silence
“I
don’t recognize him”
Jax
turned to see her holding the sketch of the stranger in her hand
”I’m
giving Mac 24 hours to find him. If he doesn’t by then I’ll have that man’s face on every corner, window
and door from here to Greece”
“Greece? Why did you say Greece?” Alexis said as if its mention was piercing to her ears
“I
just meant… Why?” Jax paused studying the look on her face “Does Greece mean something?” Jax paused again “Helena… Helena, Alexis, Helena”
“No,
Jax I just…”
“You
don’t think Sonny has her at all do you? You think maybe Helena
does?” He said jumping to conclusions
“No
I don’t know but you know she’s always…”
“We
haven’t heard from her in years and is she even still a threat? Her age has caught up with her by now…”
“I
don’t know Jax…”
“Why
didn’t you mention her before?”
“Because
like you said I’m not sure if she’s still even a threat. She may not even still be in good health. Nicolas said
the last time he heard from her she wished to see him before her death. He refused to see her. That’s been almost three
years ago…”
“You
know where she is?”
Jax
himself wasn’t sure if that was a question or a comment. He wasn’t sure at that moment what Alexis was or wasn’t
telling him
“No…I
have Luke looking for her just in case”
“Luke!
Luke? And you weren’t going to tell me any of this?”
“I
only spoke to him yesterday afternoon…”
“And
you weren’t going to say anything to me? You brought Luke into this and you what for got to mention it? ”
“You’ve
been relentless doing everything you can, you’re tired and overwhelmed and not to mention emotionally drained from all
of this. Putting Helena in the picture seemed too much!”
Jax
sat back down in the chair beside her
“Jax
I just want to know where she is. It’s what Luke does… let him find her, ok”
“And
I’m just supposed to let that be it?”
“No,
not by any means but you know how Helena is. If she took Davis’ then she took her because she just wants to see me suffer
or she took her for the sheer pleasure of getting to murder my daughter”
“How
can you say that so calmly?”
Alexis
didn’t answer but he didn’t question why she didn’t. He waited, waited for her to look up at him
When
she did he looked back at her but she wasn’t the Alexis he knew and loved
She
wasn’t the Alexis that had changed her life and buried her past
He looked
at her and saw the vengeful, emotionless dark eyes of a Cassadine
Alexis
then closed her eyes concentrating on her own words
“If
she hurts my daughter in anyway I’ll kill her with my own bare hands” She said without flinching

Bobby
followed Sonny into his Penthouse
The
Penthouse he had not seen in almost a year
“Sir
there is sketches of a man who may be a strong suspect…”
“Where
are they?”
“Still
unreleased sir, they’re literally still on the Commissioners desk…”
“You
seem em’ yet?”
“Just
a glance? No one I’m familiar with…”
“Does
she know there’s a lead?”
She
The
question of where she was, what she was doing, how she was would be asked a million times over. Bobby knew he would have to
have an answer about Alexis
“She’s
at the PCPD now. Scorpio just showed she and Mr. Jacks the sketches”
“And?”
“I
over heard Scorpio saying they couldn’t identify him”
“And
she’s still at the police station?”
“Yes
sir”
A moment
of silence passed
“Find
the kid” Sonny ordered
Bobby
nodded and made his way to the door
“Sir,
she looked…”
Sonny’s
eyes went directly to Bobby standing in the doorway
“She
looked thin, tired… very sad… I just thought I would prepare you for when you see her”
