She let the day go by

It had now become any other day

She searched her apartment frantically looking for her glasses

Gone into thin air

It upset her, it wore her out - she cried

It wasnt about the glasses

The snow fell on and off, it seemed to melt as it hit the ground

She knew this because she would watch it fall and then melt

She paced

She paced back and forth across her living room floor as if there was too much time to spare

Nowhere to go nothing to do

A child that was bored and nothing to play with

She walked towards the door, put her hand on the knob, turned it slightly and then stopped herself

Like an addiction, caused by a drug

She paced again until daylight hid itself from the awful night

She turned the doorknob this time she walked out

To the other side

His door was open

He didnt lock it

Maybe he hoped she would come back again

It was warm there and the snow seemed to look much more peaceful rather than a smothering blanket of white

He was startled to see her standing there but not completely surprised she had come back

She had forgotten to wear her coat

She was standing there and he watched her body tremble from the cold in her bones, in her heart

You should have on a coat, he said making his way towards her

She seemed almost confused of why it mattered

Its too quiet there, she said as she replaced her blank stare

He wanted to cry for her

I know, I know

Theres no one there, she said trying to make her case

The lump in his throat

He couldnt swallow her thoughts and her words

He reached for her holding her against his chest

He tried to shake her chill

It wasnt from the weather

It was from how empty she was

Make love to me she said not skipping a beat

He wanted to make love to her.

It was the only thing left that seemed familiar about her

He ran his hands against her skin, under the sweatshirt she had wore home from the night before

He was all she wanted

All that comforted her now
