The sight of Sonny put both Ned and Jax up in arms. They didnt have to ask why he was here. Or question anything else that had to do with why he had to be standing right there in front of them. Kristina almost waiting for the first punch

Sonny Kristina said trying to welcome him in a voice that wouldnt seem to eager but would seem welcoming to him. She didnt know Sonny Corinthos but she knew that Alexis trusted this man. She knew for sure that Jax and Ned did not and she had already started to figure out that most of it was not about protecting Alexis rather than the jealousy they had of him holding that piece of Alexis they couldnt seem to hold.

How is she? Sonny spoke in an almost whispered voice.

Shell get through this Kristina said optimistically.

She was starting to get nervous that the two men who were beginning to seem more and more like just boys hadnt tried to jump Sonny or at least raised their voice in protest to him being there.

Sonny looked at Kristina sincerely as if he were asking her permission. Sonny always treated a lady with respect but he knew who she was, whom she was connected to.

May I see her?

Ned strangely turned his back and started walking the opposite direction. Everyone took notice of what he was doing and no one could believe he just walked away no objections, but no fight was left in him.

Jax shook his head in disapproval and sat back down never taking a glaring eye off of Sonny.

Only relatives are suppose to be seeing her now, Kristina said hesitantly

Sonny looked at her and politely responded with Do you mind if I see her?

Kristina now realizing that he knew the rules didnt have to apply to him

Kristina gave her approval to Sonny and he thanked her. She went and sat beside Jax mainly if she had to try to at least try to weight him down if he tried a sudden attack from behind. She didnt know how stupid these men could act but she did know how men in general were, especially when it came down to a woman.

He walked in her room and immediately caught her face. The gash above her eye, the bruises, the swelling. Her beautiful face was now hidden under a horrifying mask. Still he stood there reverently. He didnt let emotion run him as Jax and Ned did. He walked towards her looking at her now almost as if he were looking for clues rather than how badly her body had been hurt. Suddenly his eyes caught her breathing. Breath in breath out ran through his head over and over until his concentration broke.
He found himself biting the inside of his lip. He was showing his nervous habit. If she had opened her eyes she would have called him on that. She called his foughts not out of hatefulness but to point out that he was actually human.

He stayed with her for a while. Trying his damnedest not to let out his emotions fearing that she night actually hear him. She knew the connection they had and it had made it hard on them the last couple of weeks. They knew they were like forbidden fruit to each other. She had Ned, someone that did love her deeply and Sonny knew that they would probably get passed all that they had been through. Still he had almost shamefully fallen under her spell. He smirked at the thought of how one woman could have three of the most powerful men in Port Charles hanging literally on her every breath.
Sonny broke his thought process and kissed her lightly on the cheek. That was the first time his lips had ever touched her skin and for once in his life he would have liked to pretend that he was the gallant prince that could have woken her with a kiss.

Walking back down the hall he spotted Ned head on. He expected confrontation but Ned only looked in his eyes as if he was checking for sincerity. But Ned knew his look, a look that sent chills straight to his heart. The look was too familiar because it was the look of a man who was in love with a woman that he could do nothing for.
Sonny walked passed Ned nodding for what could be taken a gratitude for not objecting to see her.

Another day had passed and Kristina and Ned sat outside with the doctor that had come to update them on her condition. Jax had gone to sit with her. When he would sit with her he would try to tell her good things, things that would make her laugh. The conversations usually turned to his own pity party of remembering that this straight laced lawyer was usually the reason he laughed because she had such a wonderful sense of humor.
Jax was in one of his stories when her fingers started to move. He noticed right away as if he were her watchdog and any sudden move was a call to action.

Alexis! he tried not to yell with excitement

He could see that she was awake but caught off guard by were she was. Her eyes squinted at the brightness of the lights. He watched her try to swallow and he realized that the tube was down her throat.

There is a tube down your throat

She winced at him already frustrated

He tried to smile at her to reassure her but to also give her sympathy.

Hold on I need to call the nurse and tell her you are awake

Alexis again confused by what was going on and also by how frazzled Jax looked.

Jax opened the door and looked to the nurses station Shes awake!

The nurse came quickly to Alexiss room while Ned and Kristina had heard Jax from down the hall and ran towards her room.

Well glad to see you awake sleepy head! Betty gave her a cheerful welcome but Alexis looked at her frightened.

Is she ok Kristina questioning the look on Alexis face

Yes shes ok shes probably just confused at whats going on and she might not remember whats happened so one of you might want to try to explain it to her.

Ned stood just inside the doorway while Jax and Kristina stood beside Alexis bed.

Ned! Kristina tying to snap Ned out of his glare of Alexis.

When Kristina said his name Alexis seemed to also snap back into a conscious state. She stared back at him as tears fell from the side of her eyes.

He walked towards her. It didnt matter what had become between them at that moment. The tears that fell from her eyes screamed his name in mercy. Ned leaned down to her and tried to wipe the tears that had run down the side of her face.

Its ok he whispered. I promise

She looked at him still confused but mainly frightened. Ned looked around to see Jax and Kristina watching them. When he looked up they volunteered to leave the room to give them a moment. Ned needed to be the one to let her know what happened. Despite everything he was the man she trusted more than anyone.

Alexis tried to grip his hand feeling helpless at the tubes and wires masking part of her face.

Shh dont try to speak. They will take the tube out soon. Ok?

Ned went on to explain to her about the accident and all that had happen to her

She looked at him with sad desperate eyes. He knew how much she hated being helpless.

I know your probably about ready to walk out of here, he said trying to be light with her. You just need to get better and we can go home.

The word we slipped out of his mouth. It felt like it had echoed throughout the hospital.

Ned tried to cover

You need to get some more rest

Alexis made a harder grip onto his hand.

Ill be right here

He leaned down and kissed the palm of her hand. The now warmth of it made him so familiar with her body again as her eye lids fluttered fighting her sleepiness until her lashes rested together.
