Alexis looked at Neds pleading eyes and she was disgusted with herself for blurting out that he couldnt protect her. Alexis tried to calm the moment that had intensified between them by trying to explain what made her say it.

The car accident wasnt an accident Ned, and since I didnt die like she had planned she now has better means of making me suffer

Alexis was now glaring at Kaley

Ned could feel the lump in his throat that was making him unable to breathe. Trying not to sound like a complete fool

Alexis now held her face in her hands as she hunched over her knees. Ned could tell what he had just said and how easily he had said it shook her.

Just then Kristina came flying through the door at first not noticing the state Alexis was in.

Alexis why in the hell was I just about thrown over Max shoulder and brought here!

Alexis gave her sister a blank stare before rising to her.

Kristina quickly shut her mouth now seeing with her own eyes that something was wrong.

Kristina quickly looked over to see if Kaley was there

Alexis now stood in front of her sister, towering her as if she were making it clear her words were to be taken seriously because big sister said so

Helena came by she paused waiting for Kristinas reaction

Kristina was now aware that Ned was in the room

Where were you!? Kristina really didnt mean to have that reaction that had slipped out of her mouth.

KRISTINA Alexis said trying to stop her from saying anything on the track she had started on

This time Ned didnt say anything. He didnt have a comeback for the feisty little sister. His world was falling apart. The women he loved he couldnt protect the way he wanted to.

Kristina will you just stay here with us for a while or at least until I can get over the thought of her not having your throat slit.

Kristina now passed Alexis and went to sit on the couch to assure Alexis she wasnt going anywhere. Kristina lifted Kaley up and held her excusing everything else in the room.

Alexis walked back over and sat on top of the coffee table facing Ned, Kaley and Kristina. She put her hands on Neds knees sliding herself to where she could put her arms around him and embrace him. He connected her embrace and held her tight. The embrace wasnt a means of affection so much of a means of security. Alexis leaned up watching her baby and her sister. Both of them were so innocent to what Helena could do and only Alexis was one of the few who had seen in her lifetime the horror and lived to be in fear from it.


Kristina slept soundly in Alexis bed. They all knew that Sonnys men were keeping alert but Ned and Alexis both seemed to not be able to sleep. Helena had made threats a million times before. This time it was about Alexis protecting her baby and her sister and not about what she might do to her. This time it was not about Helena literally killing her it was about Alexis having to live with Helena killing her by harming the ones she loved.

Ned sat beside Alexis in the over stuffed chair in the bedroom. Kaley had woken up and she wanted to be fed. Ned stroked the inside of Alexis thigh as he watched them. The way they both looked was the only thing that could bring complete peace to him.

If Sonny wants his men to protect all of you then let him, Ned said now thinking more clearly.

Alexis looked over at Ned expecting to see the pain on his face from releasing those words into the air. Instead he looked very serious as if his simple words were very thought out
