Alexis stared out the window of the car as they drove to the hospital. The true Cassadine in her was showing, as her emotions were not. The last tears Ned saw from her eyes were in the cabin as Jax told them and she just stopped. On the plane she said nothing, in the car she said nothing Natasha Cassadine had gone into protective mode.

They arrived at the hospital and they were directed to pediatrics. Alexis stood in front of her baby lying there still as she listened to her unfamiliar heartbeat on the monitors. She reached down to touch her fingers just as she did the night she had left her. Ned stood behind her. He didnt know what to do for his daughter; he didnt know what to do for his wife when he himself wanted to huddle himself into the corner hoping this nightmare would be over.

A piercing noise sounded from one of the machines and before either of them could panic nurses rushed to Kaleys side.

CALL THE DOCTOR!

Whats wrong Alexis tried to shout but she hadnt spoken in such a while that her voice allowed her to barely get the words out.

Alexis hands began to shake as people pushed her out of the way. Ned grabbed her

Alexis started to push away. It was suppose to be in her code that no comforting was allowed in protective mode. But she gave into Ned as he refused to let her loose from his arms.

The doctor arrived

Whats up?!!

Shes crashing again

After a few minutes of trying to revive Kaley she again began to breathe and her heart rate went back to normal just as it were right on cue.

Ned had nothing to do with his emotions. He had just watched his daughter almost die and he couldnt just stand there emotionless. He went to the bathroom and cried uncontrollably as his wife sat on the floor in the hallway of Pediatric ICU.

Ned came back and paced the floor a few times around Alexis and she still acted as if no one existed and as if she sat in the world alone.

Ned bent down to Alexis

Say something

She didnt look at him

Say anything! he said frustrated with her

Alexis turned her head and looked at Ned coldly

Go ask Kristina did Helena get near our baby she said with a frightening lack of emotion

Ned at first was startled by the question but he knew that Alexis had probably been through every possibility in her mind. It was the way she worked.

Kristina sat in the waiting room pacing back and forth meeting Jax as she would turn around. Ned flew into the room

Helena!

What? Jax answered

Ned was glaring at Kristina, as she didnt act quickly enough to answer him

Did Helena get near Kaley

Yes Kristina, said almost shamefully

WHAT?

Ned and Jax both stared at Kristina as she tried to explain Helenas quick visit and how she only picked Kaley up and then left.

Ned left to go tell Alexis what he knew and before he could finish Kristina came running towards them

She said something like I guess it doesnt matter anymore. Something about telling you something about how she didnt like Kaleys name but the it didnt matter anymore

Ned ran to the nurses station to call the police, it had to be Helena a healthy little girl didn't suddenly become deathly ill overnight.

Alexis stood up to follow him only she began to plead with the nurse to test Kaley to see if she had been drugged or if there was anything that someone could have done to her to make all of these things happen to her.

The drug test came back positive. Kaley had been slipped a drug that given a little more time her body would have worn out from all of the distress.

The drug would have killed her if Kristina hadnt tried to wake her when she did, the doctor said trying to re-assure Ned and Alexis

The doctors immediately set Kaley up to fight the drug in her system and after hours of waiting not only did she show signs of improvement but she hadnt crashed since that last episode.

Alexis stood by her babys crib behind Ned as he ran his fingers across her face trying to miss the tubes coming out of her.

He turned to look at Alexis and Alexis looked back at him. He could tell her mind was going a million miles a minute

It will be all right Alexis, he said trying to reassure her

Ill kill her, she said shaking her head and again expressing no emotion as if she had transformed herself in to not feeling for what had to be done

Alexis, Ned said now facing her

What? Dont think Im capable

No I know you at least could be capable and thats why Im trying to make you be rational

She went too far Ned

Alexis theyre looking for her now

And theyll do what Ned?
