They sat in the back corner of a diner, off of a secluded road on the outskirts of Port Charles

Alexis fingers fumbled with his from across the table

She and Lorenzo had been sitting there for hours

Dinner was telling

She was your wife? Alexis concluded

Lorenzos eyes seemed blank as he refused to look directly at Alexis

A blunt question but Alexis understood that most people in both of their lives didnt just leave. They were murdered

Lorenzo quickly looked her in the eyes and shook his head knowing she was sincere

And thats when you came to Port Charles?

She was dead and soon after I found out my broth

you found out your brother was dead she said finishing his sentence

He paused nodding

I wanted to take my mind off of Sophie. I had no life at all. I spent my days and nights mourning her and trying to seek revenge to the one who murdered her. Luis death was unfortunately, finally what distracted me

Did you find revenge?

Bold questions seemed to fall out of her mouth

Murder?

I had him killed, yes

Did I make it better? Did it make some of the pain go away?

She didnt ask as if she were intrigued by his actions rather as if she were taking notes as if he were to say yes it did take the pain away then she too would have it to look forward to

No, no it didnt

Luiss death didnt make any of it go away for my sisters death either she said without pausing

But it probably saved youre daughters life in the long run Lorenzo said as if they werent even speaking about the death of his own flesh and blood

Alexis pulled her hands away from him

Was he who I made him out to be?

She was full of questions

Lorenzo leaned back on his side of the booth

You mean was he cold hearted and shameless?

Alexis looked away as if she were almost sorry that Lorenzo knew the way she really felt

Yes and no. I mean I actually thought he had become a changed man when he met Brenda Barrett but, it turns out that he was up to his usual tricks, his usual obsessions.  He was a man with a good heart; his actions however, were shameless and heartless. Its as if he wanted good in his life but kept getting himself in situations that led him astray Lorenzo let out a nervous laugh maybe a lot like me

Alexis shuffled at the french fries still left on her plate

Alexis paused before answering. She was still questioning in her head how could he just let Luis death go like that

Well You could tell it had caught him for a loop You two are still such good friends

We got married I guess you could say on a whim, as a favor its a long story. But I was in love with Ned at the time so our marriage was based on lies and adultery though we knew what the other was doing. It was actually a great marriage!

Alexis didnt respond. She just looked at him annoyed by his assumption

She had a wincing look on her face as if she were remembering all of the chaos

Im not sure. I loved him. I was in love with him. I just couldnt see myself as his wife

Lorenzo let out a deep laugh

Ok! I do believe it wasnt so long ago that Carly Corinthos was what your whole world she said condescendingly

Oh, ok I get that youre biting back!

No, but I bet she did

They both laughed and then Lorenzo raised his glass to her

To our past relationships. May we look back on them and well just thank God that we survived and can look back on them

I guess Ill drink to that! Alexis said holding up her glass of tea

Lorenzo looked down at his watch

We should go. The nanny is probably wondering where you are

Alexis looked at her watch

Oh I should call and tell her Ill be late

Ill get the check why you do Lorenzo said now making his way to the counter

Alexis made it clear she was rolling her eyes at him

They set back out on the highway and though night had fell the stars cast enough light to make out everything they past

The highway seemed calm for an average week night. Every passing car was noticeable because they were few and far between

There conversation was steady. And despite their conversations of their past both were in good spirits, happy that they had succeeded to spend their night in public together without a hitch

Lorenzo seemed to talk more about Kristina. Telling Alexis a story about Kristina entertaining him while Alexis was in the shower earlier that day it had Alexis in tears from laughing at how Lorenzo captured her little girl

Suddenly Lorenzo began to slam on breaks

Alexis looked up to see head lights coming straight for them

LORENZO! Alexis screamed

The car hit them head on

Screeching tires

The last sound of her voice

Sounds of glass breaking

Metal bending

Silence

Almost dead silence
